Winter makes good hunting for the wolf pack
Nature seems cruel at times but survival of the fittest and strongest is what makes the cycle work and only by eliminating the weak can the species remain strong. It allows more food for the strong plus eliminates the sick and weaker animals. Still it is nice to be at the top of the food chain now is it not?
The snow makes it easier for the wolf pack but harder for the moose to navigate. Alaska is up in arms over the wolf issue as they say 80% of new born moose young are killed by wolves. That large of number of deaths impacts the big game hunting; which means the almighty dollar is affected as tourism and hunting is what bring people to Alaska. It is not to see the wolves but to hunt the animals they are eliminating. It is a balance that the Wildlife Agencies must find tough to balance as the positions they hold are elected too.
