Fishing

Michigan summer smallmouth fishing is great

This is Mrs Ashley Biggs.  Pauls new wife and looks like she is adjusting to Michigan from Oklahoma just fine.  That is a keeper Paul!  Well actually two keeper’s :)   Paul; tells me that the bass fishing is awesome right now on top water and using tubes early in the AM and at sundown.  So those low light conditions are best for the bass right now and for the deer in the fall.  Funny thing how that works isn’t it?  So as not to let Paul be showed up I wil post his bass and his friends fish too.  Good job on lipping the bass and not the barracuda Paul.  I wish Mr and Mrs Biggs the best and I know the outdoors will be thier playground. Congrats on the marriage!

Paul Biggs fishing on his honeymoon

Paul Biggs Barracuda

This is the leader and producer of www.myoutdoorzone.com Mr Paul Biggs. He got married on June 9,2007 to Ms Ashley Thompson. While vacationing in Belize Paul of course had to get in some fishing and caught this nice barracuda. Now for a boy from Oklahoma without a net; you guessed it Paul tried to lip it like a largemouth bass. Hmmm, just kidding Paul those things do have the teeth. Send me some pictures that include your wife and I will post the happy couple! I ask Paul for wedding pictures and being the true outdoorsman he sends me this picture of the barracuda he caught on his honeymoon.

John and the March Hybrid Wipers

This is my brother John and his two children Blake and Jenna.  He took them out to the lake to catch these wipers on 28 March.  It was 75 degrees and just a perfect evening to be fishing.  They had triples on several times and you can see by these pictures they are really good size, especially for a 6 yr old girl.  The kids and the fish kept John really busy but he loved it, you know he did and did not mind all the extra work at all.  He also had his neighbor along John Shassberger, John always likes to share his hunting and fishing trips with people who don’t get to participate in it as much as he does.  He loves to show off is what it is  :)   These fish weigh from 5 to 15 lbs and are just a ton of fun to catch, especially on top water when they are chasing shad.   I can’t wait for it to warm up again so I can go too!

This lion as photographed is supposedly in Martin, MI on the deck in the snow pacing and looking in the windows as this man’s kids played on the floor.   He rushed and got a camera and was able to document it.

Would that unnerve you?  My kids look out the window now for the big kitty :)

Come on up for a bowl of milk kitty :)

The guy said he hasn’t seen a mouse all winter.  Now he knows why !

Joey Menegatti uses Muzzy’s to take down a big Cougar

The “cowboy” Joey Menegatti as I have said previously is just an awesome guy to share hunting camp with because there is no finer hunter, sportsman, or partner to hunt hard and long and have a great time doing it with.  The first day of March came roaring in like a lion but Joey was deep in the Colorado Mountains and the snow hunting cougar with a bow and his favorite MUZZY broadheads.  Besides being an accomplished elk and deer hunter Joey likes to harvest predators and his first choice for hunting is his Mathews bow and his MUZZY broadheads.

Here are some pictures of the cat in the tree thinking about pouncing on the cowboy :)

The cat right before he met the new 2007 Muzzy’s of Joey’s.

Below is Joey posing next to his big cat.

Congrats Joey on a great mountain lion with a bow.

Monster Pike - Record Pending

This pike is a real monster.  Have you ever seen anything like this?  I have seen barracuda do this but never a pike.   The small pike is a 14lb fish so how big is the big pike? I got this from my buddy in Michigan.  His friend is a fishing guide and took these photo’s.

Just had to forward these pictures. One of my brothers fishing clients caught a pike in Muskegon lake. While catching the pike… another pike (jurassic park size) came up to feed. He ended up netting both of these pikes. The biggest should be put in guinness book of world records. Check it out!A friend of Dave Derks caught this fish in Muskegon Lake. The third pic shows how it was caught. He never hooked the larger fish. 35 minutes to land them both…….the larger one just wouldn’t let go.

Atheist in the woods

An atheist was taking a walk through the woods. “What majestic trees! What
powerful rivers! What beautiful animals!” he said to himself. As he
continued walking alongside the river he heard a rustling in the bushes.
Turning to look, he saw a 7 foot grizzly charging towards him. He ran as
fast as he could up the path. Looking over his shoulder he saw that the
bear was closing in on him. His heart was pumping frantically and he tried
to run even faster. He tripped and fell on the ground. He rolled over to
pick himself up but saw the bear raising his paw to take a swipe at him.

At that instant the atheist cried out: “Oh my God!…”

Time stopped.

The bear froze.

The forest was silent.

It was then that a bright light shone upon the man and a voice came out of
the sky saying: “You deny my existence for all of these years, teach others
I don’t exist and even credit creation to a cosmic accident. Do you expect
me to help you out of this predicament? Am I to count you as a believer?”

The atheist looked directly into the light. “It would be hypocritical of me
to suddenly ask you to treat me as a Christian now, but perhaps, could you
make the BEAR a Christian?”

“Very well,” said the voice. The light went out, and the sounds of the
forest resumed.

And then the bear lowered his paw, bowed his head and spoke: “Lord, bless
this food which I am about to receive and for which I am truly thankful,
Amen

Monster Lake Trout 2 lbs off the World Record

The photo is a Lake Trout caught by John Geiger an Illinois resident
(Rockton, IL), while fishing at Tazin Lake Lodge. http://www.tazinlakelodge.com/

Specs on the fish - 50″ long x 33.5″ girth = 70lbs plus - based on the
standard formula for estimating weight (length x girth x girth /800) the
fish weighed just over 70 pounds, putting it 2 lbs off the world record.
The Fisherman was John Geiger from Rockton IL. Sean Coleman the lodge owner
was the Guide. Lure was a Silver & Blue T-55 Flatfish. The fish was caught
on 7/11.

What a monster of a fish! The next world record wil surely be caught there in the next few years as this lake has the fishery to support Lakers of that size cionsistently. Not a lot of pressure and the size of a lake to support them with anglers and guides respecting the fishery at all times.

The World Hunting Association’s very own Pro Staffer Matt Moore caught a Trophy Lake trout of his own in Colorado. Look at Matt’s 36 Lb Trout compared to that pig of a Laker from Lake Tazin. WOW! Way to go Matt and double that fish and you got the world record at 72 lbs.

Travis Shearer gets some Hoosier Hospitality

Travis normally films for the WHA Pro Staff hunter Joey Menegatti.  I invited Travis and Paul Biggs to come down to Indiana and take part in our annual Deer Camp.  They came and I placed them on a ridge where some very big bucks have been taken.  Travis is from Michigan and had never had the chance at a buck of 140 or more Boone and Crockett points.  When I had told him at the WHA hunt that the 5 guys in our Deer camp had taken over 60 bucks that scored more than the 140 B/C points that was his measuring stick for a trophy.  I knew he was skeptical about the deer and the trophy potential of our area so I was really glad he got the chance to harvest this nice trophy.  Paul Biggs passed on it the first day because it was NOT on film?  OMG how many hunter’s have that type of mentality?  It would have been his largest buck to date and he let him walk due to not being able to capture it on film.  There was limb blocking the mounted camera and he watched this buck rub a tree and make a scrape at 60 yards for like 15 minutes or more but did not take the shot.  Travis killed the buck the next day right after they had gotten down from the stand and guess what?  It was not on film!  Way to go Travis!  He did not even think about letting it walk as it was also the largest Buck he had killed.  This 8 point buck scores 144 B/C and field dressed 195 lbs.   Paul I know you will be second guessing that choice but I know how happy you made Travis!  How many hunter’s would let a buck of that caliber walk?  Would Mike Waddell or Dave Blanton?
